PEMF & BioCharger buying guide
Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) devices use coils to create pulsing magnetic fields. You'll find them as full-body mats, targeted pads and loops, and high-intensity clinic units. Energy devices like the BioCharger combine light, frequencies and PEMF into a signature wellness experience.
What are your options?
Full-body PEMF mats
Lie-down mats for relaxation sessions. Quiet, easy to staff and simple to add to a recovery lounge.
Targeted pads and loops
Smaller applicators for specific areas like knees, back or shoulders.
High-intensity PEMF units
Stronger systems usually found in clinics and premium studios.
Energy devices (BioCharger)
The BioCharger NG combines PEMF, light, frequencies and voltage in touchless 12 to 15 minute sessions that several people can share. Best positioned as a wellness experience. Read our BioCharger guide.
What to look for
- Field strength and pulse frequency, and how they were measured
- Research on the device itself, not just on PEMF in general
- Regulatory status and the claims the brand makes
- Contraindications (pacemakers, implanted electronics, pregnancy)

Does PEMF work?
A 2018 meta-analysis found PEMF reduced pain and improved function in knee and hand osteoarthritis compared with sham. Consumer devices vary widely. Read our PEMF and BioCharger guide.
Is the BioCharger proven?
We're not aware of published controlled trials on the BioCharger itself. Many users enjoy it, and we recommend presenting it as a wellness experience, not a treatment.
